R.A.P. - Resources, Advice & Programming Packet for Evanston/Skokie School District 65

Role: UX Researcher

I worked with a team to develop a packet containing study guides, advice, and event programming for 6th-8th graders. Our central focus was on United Nations goal 4, “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.” Through stakeholder input and feedback, our team analyzed current educational practices in District 65 as well as students’ accessibility to extracurricular programs based on their socioeconomic status. Our research led us to design a visual tool for all students to have equal access to resources in their community.

My role in this project was to connect with stakeholders in the school district, including middle school students, parents, teachers, counselors, and librarians.

Learning Situation Insights and User Testing

Using takeaways from our interviews and observations, we came up with three main insights:

Next, we took our Figma prototypes to the public library where we asked children and parents if they were willing to interact with it and give us feedback on our designs. As a result, we gained:

  • Aesthetic-specific feedback

  • Content-specific feedback

  • Evanston-specific feedback
